Sidney Slaney

Registered Counsellor. Registered Member of MBACP.

Sid is qualified in Integrative Counselling and uses a range of counselling methods offering one-to-one talking therapy for young people and adults.  As a member of BACP, she works within their ethical framework to ensure a high standard of care.  Sid holds a current Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate and public liability insurance.

In Sid’s work with young people, Sid strongly holds that confusion, frustration, being misunderstood or working out where they fit in the world are just some of the questions that can make young people feel stuck, alone or chaotic.

After a successful 12-year career working pastorally in both secondary and primary schools, Sid trained to become an integrative counsellor to strengthen her skillset in supporting young people to navigate them through their lives.

With a non-directive and person-centred approach, Sid works to build a strong therapeutic relationship to support the sometimes-apprehensive young person to feel heard and understood in a safe and confidential environment. Her down-to-earth and honest approach has helped those she has worked with have a voice and express themselves freely without fear of judgment or criticism.

Sid has worked with a variety of presenting issues such as self-harm, loss, anxiety, emotional regulation, family conflict, lack of self-esteem and confidence, the effects of bullying, anxious school refusal and relationship issues, and continues to learn through her clients and continued professional development the trials and tribulations of growing up as a young person.

Professional Membership

Sid is a registered member of the MBACP, the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy and works as an independent practitioner. She is committed to upholding the BACP’s ethical framework.
